iTunes Review

A world-renowned jazz bassist who attended Julliard and played alongside top-shelf artists (Roy Hargrove, Freddie Hubbard, McCoy Tyner, George Duke, Chick Corea, etc.) before releasing albums under his own name in the mid-‘90s, Christian McBride is one of the biggest stars in modern jazz. Into the new millennium, he fronted his own group, The Christian McBride Band, and collaborated with everybody from Sting and John McGlaughlin to ?uestlove and Queen Latifah. On Good Feeling, he assembles a straight-up big band for an 11-song set that’s about half standards ("I Should Care," "Broadway") and half original pieces ("Bluesin' in Alphabet City," "The Shade of the Cedar Tree"). He’s backed by a crackshot horn section that includes trumpet players Freddie Hendricks and Nicholas Payton, as well as Ron Blake on reeds and trombonist Steve Davis. They come together to create a sound that pays homage to the old school while bringing something new to the table. It’s an album that truly lives up to its name. Don't miss "Brother Mister" and the high-octane closer, "In a Hurry."

Jazz Roots

I love Big Bands, and I love this Big Band as much as any I have heard.
There is just that big beautiful sound from a Big Band playing Jazz that can't be mistaken for anything else.
Christian went to work here and put together a joy for your ears!
I love all the songs and Broadway I really like at that pace they do it in.
I do believe Miss Dakota Staton would have loved to sing Broadway at this pace too, I'm nuts about her rendition.
Buy this CD, it's great music by great musicians and it just swings!
The Shade of the Cedar Tree is Crazy good, you gotta hear it !!

IT'S ALL GOOD! : )

Superb bass player

I saw Christian McBride play with Pat Methany a few years back. It was magical. One of the great jazz bass players of all time. This album keeps in his tradition of great ones.
