Album Review

At first, the debut outing for the Gracious Few sounds a lot like one would expect from members of '90s alt-rock staples Live and Candlebox. The first 30 seconds of opening track “Appetite” roll on in like fog covering the Puget Sound, only to be obliterated by what sounds like a lost cut from Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti. Kingdom Come they are not, but Patrick Dahlheimer, Chad Gracey, and Chad Taylor from Live and Kevin Martin and Sean Hennesy from Candlebox have crafted a note of fondness (not quite a love letter) to '70s hard rock that has enough post-grunge radio polish on it to keep things in perspective.

Sounds Good But...

Yeah this sounds good. However the first reviewer incorrectly stated that the drummer was the best in the industry. I simply wanted to amend his grievious error, the best drummer in the world currently is Neil Peart of the Progressive Rock band Rush. Perhaps when Neil dies the drummer of the Gracious Few could contend for the title however this is not likely since that position will more than likely be filled by former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy. If you don't believe me simply look up one of Neil's many live solos. I assure you, he is and always will be the best.

INSTANT CLASSIC, THESE GUYS ROCK

There arent many bands that can deliver an album where every song is an amazing piece of art. Kevin Martins lyrics and vocals are amazing, that coupled with the best drummer in the industry (Chad Gracey), the best bass player in the land (Patrick Dalheimer), the most passionate guitar player alive in Chad Taylor and the kid Sean Hennessey bringing some energy to this group of 5! TRULY THE NEXT GREAT SUPER GROUP!

Awesome!!!

This CD rocks! I was looking forward to hearing it and it did not disappoint!

When Live went on hiatus in July 2009, guitarist Chad Taylor, bassist Patrick Dahlheimer, and drummer Chad Gracey decided to resurrect some of Taylor’s old songs and continue playing together. What began as a series of informal jam sessions quickly turned into a full-fledged band after the addition of Candlebox vocalist Kevin Martin. Martin brought along guitarist Sean Hennesy, who’d joined Candlebox's ranks as a sideman in 2006, and the five musicians turned their full attention to the Gracious...
