Album Review

Christian Kane writes most of the material on his solo debut, which is essentially an expanded version of the self-titled EP he released six months earlier. Featuring all five of the EP’s tracks — "House Rules," "Whiskey in Mind," "Let Me Go," "Making Circles," and "American Made" — as well as a handful of newer numbers, it presents Kane as a confident country-rock songwriter, with most of the songs telling familiar tales of Southern women, small-town bars, and party-filled weekends. Producer Bob Ezrin, famous for his work on landmark albums like The Wall and Kiss' Destroyer, handles the songs well, purposely roughing up the faster numbers and polishing the ballads with countrypolitan gloss. The result is a bar-band record with several slow-dance moments, including a faithful version of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car.”

FRESH FRESH FRESH country done right!

Cool voice, awesome production and songswriting, Christian lays down the emotion just right in all the songs, didn't shy away from the all-out honesty in "Making Circles" (nice to see some explicit lyric once in a while in country), and just overall fresh country with some attitude and yet at the same time vulnerability. Gotta love it!

If you don't know his name...YOU WILL!

"House Rules" shows the world just what Christian Kane is made of. Every song on the CD is excellent. Don't just buy a couple of songs, buy the entire album with the bonus track "Different Kind of Knight". This song is one of my favorites and the album is worth it. Christian's voice is as beautiful as his songwriting. There is a good mix of heartfelt ballads as well as party it up southern rock. Remember the name Christian Kane, you are going to be hearing it a lot! We love you Christian. You are amazing!

The House Rules

I've always been and always will be a Christian Kane fan and this is the most awsome album. You don't have to be a fan of country to be a Kaniac!
