Just Good

A good, full, and well rounded sound on this album. They have taken prog to a new level with Veil of Illumination, the hands down most epic track on the album. The biggest problem is the lack of guitar solos for the first half of the album. If you liked their other albums, you'll like this one.

A Major Step Forward

If you like Andromeda because of their complexion, compositional skills, and heaviness, this is the album. Their earlier albums, in my opinion, were ok, but they were too light and not enough on the progressive side of things. But this album features amazing complexity, odd time signatures, and great composition. The tempo changes in Slaves of the PLETHORA Season (iTunes misspelled Plethora) and in the amazing epic "Veil of Illumination" are vintage Andromeda. Johan Reinholdz plays a 7-string guitar on this album, which just widens their range even more. I wouldn't feel out of place to say that the mastery of composition and technique on this album rival that of Dream Theater's. If this is a direction Andromeda continues, I have a really good feeling for where this band is heading.

Still wishing for an extension

I love Extension of the Wish. Not crazy about II=I, but vocals aside, not a bad album. This one is another step further removed from what I liked about the band on EOTW. The sound quality is not particularly good and most of the instrumentation is muddled. There may be some great things happening in there, but it doesn't come through in the mix. The quality of the songs themselves, while maybe not exactly what I was hoping for, might have grown on me if the sound was better.
