The pastor of one of America's biggest churches, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in DeKalb County, GA, which boasts well over 25,000 members, Bishop Eddie L. Long also has a recording career of sorts, recognizing that sermonizing to the beat of an urban groove is an effective way to reach a large audience. Bishop Eddie Long & Friends: The Kingdom, Vol. 1, released by Ultimate Entertainment in 2009, features Long both preaching his usual sermonettes and singing them, as well, but this release is distinctly and deliberately more urban in tone and feel in spots than his previous two albums, although the message remains unchanged. Produced by former Def Jam executive James Jones, the album spotlights guest spots from Mary Mary, Tye Tribbett, Dorinda Clark-Cole, and the GW's.

On the record

This has got to be the best CD from Bishop Eddie Long and his church's youth ministry. This was well put together. On the Record, I have been really praying for my nephews salvation recently, nothing I said to them about Christ seem to sink in. However through prayer, love and wisdom, I truly felt the need to purchase this CD for them. With in 24 hours after giving the CD to them, they called me and thanked me for the CD. To my surprise, they shared with me, how they have been listening to Bishop Long sermons for the past 6 weeks on TV. They candidly shared how this album really caught their attention, their hearts, and expressed their deep feelings in song. God used this time and CD for me to minister to them. We laughed, we cried, we learned from each other, and boy did they ask a lot questions about the word of God. They were so attentive, excited, and more open to receive from God. We talk sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. I thank God for this CD and the power of God that rest upon it to provoke young people to run to the foot of the cross or have a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. God Bless.

My son and I can't stop playing the album. I love it from beginning to end. I love Righteous Forsaken and Give God Something. I also love wrapped up in you
