Chants, Keyboards, Transcendence!
Listening to this album over 400 times in the first six weeks I downloaded it on iTunes seemed right to me, but I was surprised when I began to discover that many others were doing the same. The meditative aspiration for enlightenment is so well embodied in this presentation that one is actually practicing by listening. Soul refreshing and hope inducing sounds! One awakens during each listening to deeper listening. Breathing follows the music. Such brilliance and talent, such deeply effective atmospheric support for meditation: It establishes a new modality of meditative practice for the listener. This is the standard by which I measure all spiritual music. I am enriched each time I listen to it. For some time I searched for a track on this album that I liked only to be frustrated in not being able to find it: That is how unique the experience each time for listenting can be...for you hear the chants differently as you deepen into the awareness of the spiritual dimension in sound. This music is spiritually evokative, and perhaps enlightening!
swim toward the path
I own several Tibetan chant albums, but this is tops on my favorite list. They may not be as "pure" as other chant pieces - I think Rykiel did a nice and tasteful job in adding a melodic spin to many of these. It works. I lap swim daily, and like to listen to these while in the water - it is a place where my mind is very unencumbered, where I am conscious of my breathing rhythm and this music is the perfect accompanyment. Very nice album.
