Power Pop-Rock
Platinum-selling artist David Cook makes a triumphant return after a long hiatus with this power anthem -- an uptempo breakup song penned with hitmaker Ryan Tedder. A passionate vocal and meticulous production, including aggressive guitars, make for a great listening experience, while the big chorus is bound to be an earworm. Made for blasting with the windows down, "The Last Goodbye" proves that this rocker can navigate pop territory without abandoning his roots. The material fits well in today's radio environment, but the voice, and the sensibility behind it, are unique and compelling. Highly recommended.
He is back
He is finally back, and let me tell you, he is going to do some big things this year. There will be a lot that will say this is kind of main stream, and I will agree to a point. I still think the beat is great, his voice is wonderful as always, and beyond all, it is catchy. I just can't get it out of my head. I feel like it was a great first single from the new album, and I can't say I have any big complaints. I think this will get him on the radios a little more, and I think he needs that, so good job David, my favorite artist, and a great dude. Can't wait for June 28th!
The Start of Something Big
If The Last Goodbye provides an indication of what David Cook has in store for his sophomore album, we'll be hearing a lot from him this summer. This is a radio ready tune with a great beat. It revs up quickly and you catch yourself singing along after only a few listens.
Hats off to producer Matt Serletic for placing Cook's fantastic vocals front and center. The power and quality of the voice are better than ever. Looking forward to hearing the full album, This Loud Morning, when it becomes available in June.
