iTunes Review

The limited two LP pressing of The Last Resort is already M.I.A. at many taste-making record stores. And with good reason: One is a studio album so good it could score a Cannes-caliber film, while the other compiles all the pricey, moonlit and minimal techno singles Trentemøller released to much hands-in-the-air fanfare in the past year. Simply put, both are mind-blowing — an exhausting/exhilarating two and a half hours of beats that snap, crackle and bump, synths that soothe like lip balm and slide like glaciers, and strings that weep, whine and soar. Not to mention enough live elements (glockenspiels, guitars and melodicas, oh my!) to warm the iciest of hearts, bringing red-blooded human emotion to an experience as mechanical and precise as a ride along the Autobahn with Kraftwerk in the backseat. Seductive and sinewy, dark and dirty, funky and frosted, ambient and aggro — The Last Resort is all these things.

A Masterpiece Charged with Rhythm and Emotion!

Trentemoller injects a musical intensity that mirrors nothing I have heard before. From the dramatic bass pounding and stimulating remixes which first intrigued me to the every release thereafter, nothing he touches has been anything less than brilliant! After collecting every vinyl and remix I could find, then hearing that there would be a full length release, I was excited beyond belief. Upon hearing this album I immediately was overwhelmed and can't say enough how incredible Last Resort is. There is another level to which he took this album and it's on a emotion, personal, and private expression that I am attracted to it. This differs though from his whaling dance floor sounds in the remixes and previous records but none the less an amazing companion to the releases prior. I recommend with full confidence that this is the cd you must buy. This is a flawless album and as a bonus you get most all of his releases that fans like myself spent months collecting. Some music can be described as life altering because it creates an almost soundtrack to daily life and Trentemoller's Last Resort is one of those gems!! Get it now!!!!

The Last Resort: Soudtrack To Solitude

The driving beats, the tantalizingly ethereal melodies, and the delicate, precise, yet pleasingly rough-hewn production that are Trentemøller’s hallmark take center-stage in his latest full-length release: The Last Resort. The Last Resort is an artistic and accessible amalgam of musical attitudes: from the frosted-glass synths of Evil Dub, Take Me Into Your Skin, and Moan, to the loping, driving Vamp, the danceable Physical Fraction, and the ethereality of While The Cold Winter Waiting. The abundance of bonus tracks take the second half of the album in a thoroughly different direction than that set by the first half: namely, introducing a faster tempo and a style more focused on effervescence and dancability than on the contemplative atmosphere set by the rest of the LP. Control, delicacy, rawness, effervescence, ethereality – these are the qualities that make The Last Resort such a delicious – and taxing – listen. The layers of aural imagery evoked by each track are stunning; unfolding before you with majesty and complexity. The Last Resort is an auditory wonderland, a mist-clad paradise. – SW Key Tracks: Vamp, Moan, Always Something Better, Take Me Into Your Skin, and While The Cold Winter Waiting.

Exquisite!

If this album was a drink, the recipe would look something like this: 1 part Chemical Brothers 1 part Crystal Method 1 part Paul Oakenfold Mix in shaker with ice until smooth, pour, and enjoy. You don't even need one of those cute little umbrellas!
