Album Review

Aventura didn't become the kings of bachata by deserting their large and devoted fan base to cater to the mainstream, and it's no different on The Last — despite the fact that the album includes features for a parade of crossover suspects: Wyclef Jean and Ludacris on one track, plus Akon and Wisin y Yandel on another. No, the lead track on The Last — the number one Latin hit "Por un Segundo" — is straight bachata, rhythmic and sweet, and there happen to be plenty of tender ballads to follow it. Not only that, but the crossover features are held to the last half of the album, where Wyclef Jean produces his own surprisingly sugary "Spanish Fly," and Akon and Wisin y Yandel appear on the Auto-Tuned reggaeton track "All Up 2 You." As usual, the band is anchored by Santos brothers Lenny and Max, along with longtime collaborator Eric "Bori" Rivera. Consolidating the quartet's power, The Last became Aventura's biggest album hit yet, reaching number five on the charts.

Historic...

After listening to this album one is left speechless at the fact that after releasing so many great albums, and just an overall amazing career in music, these guys can still produce a masterpiece like this. Por Un Segundo was their first single and starts off the only CD in my life I've been able to hear from start to finish without skipping a song. How Romeo can write these truly touching songs is beyond me... and I wish him the best in his future solo projects he'll one day pursue. "The Last" is said to be the group's final "all-bachata" cd, not their final album ever, but it's still bittersweet to listen to the cd and know they will drift away from the genre that made them who they are. These are truly the Kings Of Bachata, and no matter how many other artists boast and claim to be kings in their respective genres, these guys truly are. Songs to listen for: EACH ONE. You will not be disappointed... "Vive tu Aventura...."

Its been 3 years since the release of there last major release "KOB The Kings Of Bachata" with there new Album "The Last" overall its a great cd. i would defenetly Recomend.

A New York-based Dominican boy band with roots deep in bachata? If that sounds unlikely, well, Aventura have managed to cope with it. The group was formed in 1994 in the Bronx by four boys (Anthony Santos, Lenny Santos, Max Santos, and Henry Santos Jeter) who were determined to break Dominican bachata music out from its traditional base and fuse it with the other sounds they heard every day, like hip-hop and R&B.
