With his latest CD, "The Lionheart", Chris Opperman immerses his listeners in a magical musical landscape and takes them on a sprawling, moody adventure. "Beware the Random Factor", an eerie warning from the composer, directly contrasts the mesmerizing, light loveliness of "Knight of Winter's Day". We are sent on an interplanetary side trip via "Telepathy on Mars?", return to earth in time for the sweet but powerful love note "Idaho Potato", and then end our musical flight of fancy with the triumphant epic "The Porpentine". "The Lionheart" is another beautiful collection of Opperman's intriguingly orchestrated works, and it is an adventure well worth taking.
