Album Review
The story that unfolds during Trans-Siberian Orchestra's third Christmas CD deals with angels visiting New York City, which gives this orchestrated rock group a chance to draw upon a wide variety of modern music. The jaunty "Christmas Nights in Blue" sounds like it was influenced by Louis Jordan and is the coolest moment the orchestra has ever offered, while the driving "Christmas Jam" is Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein" with some sleigh bells. Not that the group was ever "traditional," but the songs here sound less influenced by the old Christmas standards, and they're generally more fun and uplifting. The quiet numbers are delicate and beautiful, and there are a number of them in the album's fourth quarter. The problem with the album is it's nearly choked with too much material, with a great number of the songs existing solely to move the story along. That's when the album gets too emotive, too forced, and too Electric Light Orchestra without Jeff Lynne. Good new is, whittle out the dreck and you've still have plenty left to enjoy. Even though it won't win them any new fans, The Lost Christmas Eve is rumored to be an "end of the trilogy" album. If so, the trilogy ends with a big, theatrical bang, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra fans wouldn't have it any other way.

Fantastic Music!!! If you get the chance...SEE THEM LIVE!!
I just got back from seeing Trans-Siberian Orchestra live....WOW. words cannot express how amazing the show was. I love this CD and their other CDs but seeing them live is like no experience on earth. As you may know this is not your ordinary orchestra that performs the Nurtracker...no they are guitats, keyboards, drums, rock type vocals and yes there are guitars playing non classical music. Listen to the first track FAITH NOEL this track is one of their best, it will have you thinking about Christmas carrols in a different way. They mix it up with WIZARDS IN WINTER and I personally love SIBERIAN SLEIGH RIDE and CHRISTMAS JAM. There music is great you have to hear it for yourselves...again...if you ever have the chance SEE THEM LIVE!!! theyre shows are amazing..not just the music but the light show that goes along...it was by far one of the coolest and best concet i have ever seen!!!
Great Music!! Bad I-Tunes!!!
TSO is a great holiday experience. My first exposure was the live show I attended recently which was great entertainment. After that I was fired up to get the CD. I -Tunes has a problem now with several of their songs I have tried to buy saying it is unavailable and being "modified". Really kills the impulse buy for artists like this. I finally got the song by following a suggestion someone else posted about a work around. The response from I tunes support last Wednesday was check back Monday. Again, kills the impulse buyer. Anyway, go see this show and buy the CD. Unlike many live acts I have seen the CD sounds dead on to the live show which with this style of music is a good thing.
Perfect way to usher in the holidays
Are you sick of whiny-voiced lyricists ruining your holiday music? Bring something a little edgier, without being so over-the-top that you can't play it for the family. This is the perfect way to hear some classics done with some oompf.
