They've kept it real since day one.

Dead Prez and Outlawz always have my respect for telling it like it is and not giving into the commercialized style. I admit that this isn't the best I've heard from them but it's only a mixtape. I think that they should have added a few songs to this and made it an album. Even if it's not their best work every song on here is worth listening to.

Dead Prez & Outlawz - with that title you'd expect more

Not the best from Dead Prez, but a decent mix-tape - could've been only three stars, but they get four for keepin it real. One of the few groups that has been around a while and has kept from selling out. Some of the tracks are a departure from their normal stuff if you've heard the older work. I'd highly recommend the old albums, as well as the title trick on this album and Like a Window, U Ain't the Only One, Believe, and Came Up.

The Florida-based political rap duo Dead Prez consists of Stic.man and M-1, a pair of rappers inspired by revolutionaries from Malcolm X to Public Enemy. They immersed themselves in political and social studies as they forged their own style of hip-hop. They went on to work with Big Punisher on his 1998 album Capital Punishment and released singles like 1998's "Police State with Chairman Omali" and 1999's "It's Bigger Than Hip-Hop."
