iTunes Review
It's hard to date exactly when the radio stopped being much of a vital force in young people's lives in terms of their discovery and enjoyment of new sounds; surely it predates the mp3 player, and television programs such as the OC? It's almost as it's hard to pinpoint when the OC itself stopped being a vital force in turning kids onto hip music. And while viewers' attention may have begun to drift by the time of the insanely successful show's final season, Music from the OC: Mix 5 just might be the best of all the O.C. mixes. This particular collection shies away from the trademark singer-songwriter fare towards a more danceable electronic and four-on-the-floor rock type sound. From the throwaway brilliance of LCD Soundsystem's "Daft Punk is Playing at My House" to Youth Group's campy take on "Forever Young," this is the ideal soundtrack to youthful exuberance and likely as strong a time capsule of hipster listening habits circa '05 as one is likely to find.

The OC mix 5
The OC mix is amazing. it has all these great songs and bands that bring better music to people! I love itt!!!
AWESOME!
I absolutely love all of the OC mixes! I have all of them and it introduces me to bands and songs that are better then the top 40 crap they play on the radio 24/7! The OC is a great show with an even better soundtrack! FYI The song playing during marissa's death was Imogen Heap's cover of Hallelujah which will be released on The OC Mix 6 later this Fall according to musicfromtheoc.com!
i don't like the OC but i LOVE this album
hey, ok for starters i am not here to bash the OC. i've seen it once and i just wasn't into it. i don't have a passionate hate for it or anything but i don't like it. but thing is, they have amazing music choice. i like almost all of the songs on here. i think that this is a fabulous outlet for great unknow indie bands such as ROGUE WAVE. by being on such a populare show it gives them a chance to appeal to a whole new crowd of people opposed to the normal indie kids such as myself. i own tracks 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 12. all of which i adore. i've heard of the other bands and i just previewed those that i do not have and i like them already hahaha. even PHANTOM PLANET's california (regular and 2005) isn't too bad. i'd just like to say thank you to those people who chose these songs to put onto the OC and reaffirm that not all people are jerks about not liking the OC (esspecially us indie rockers lol)
