Album Review
The first release from ex-Cap'N Jazz/Joan of Arc guitarist Mike Kinsella. Light, refreshing melodies of dual guitars and no bass layered with soft, pitter-pattering, slow rhythms are complemented by Kinsella's high pitched, syrupy vocals. All in all, this three-song disc will leave you anxious to hear more. "'Letters and Packages" is perhaps the most compelling song of the three — a quiet sort of driving piece that weaves through the ears gracefully.

Great band! These 3 songs are well worth buying. Too bad they broke up so soon.
must buy for old school emo
Yeah amazing for what it is. AF is just good curl up in your bed and cuddle with a pillow while eltting out a deep sigh music, or driving late night by yourself. and for your info the memebers of AF were first in cap'n'jazz and joan of acr in 95 and how the hell you can think death cab sounds anything like this is beyond me. part of the reason why i love this band is that i have never heard a band like them.
nostalgic and beautiful
this is a great start for music. though music, like art, is completely subjective, i think you'd really be doing a 15 or 16-year-old kid a solid by just giving this CD to them, at random, and not saying anything. i was lucky enough to stumble upon American Football at that age and i honestly feel blessed because of it. beautiful melodies, emotion that actually sounds genuine, and a soundtrack for everyone's youth. OF COURSE pick up their other CD, OF COURSE buy the Cap'n Jazz compilation, OF COURSE buy all of Owen's material (Mike Kinsella, singer from this band's newer project), and OF COURSE buy the Owl's CD which might turn you onto Joan of Arc.. but most of all: start here.
