Dredg is back.

Not that Catch Without Arms was a bad album, but I feel like I have been waiting for Dredg to become Dredg again, and after years of waiting it has happened. I don't know if it was leaving Interscope and producing this album under their own label or what, but this album feels like they were able to really experiment and take the time to make the album they wanted to make. This album has a little of everything, with parts reverting back to the Leitmotif days and the entire album giving off an El Cielo feel, just with superb production. The Pariah really showcases the maturation of the band though they definitely got back to their roots at the same time. This album is everything true Dredg fans have wanted since El Cielo. Pariah is an instant best of... Gathering Pebbles might be the best overall song... Lightswitch is tremendous... I feel like I have heard Saviour, I don't know and Ireland 1,000 times over the past few tours, but they sound so much more polished on the album... Overall, thanks to Dredg for growing as musicians and at the same time coming back to the sounds and creativity that made us all fans years and years ago. I don't want to say it yet, because I need to really soak these songs in....but, this could be Dredg's best album (at least that is my initial feeling through the first few listens).

I am trying so hard to get into it, but...

Not much to say, I'm just dissapointed. Huge dredg fan here and have been waiting very anxiously and am now let down. I've listened to it over and over, but it just sounds cliche and little 'too' catchy. Sounds like it should be played in a dentist's office. There are some nice ones i'll admit, mainly all the Stamp of Origins. Not very original sounding to me. Maybe I'll come back around on the next one.

honest

this is what creativity sounds like.

Hailing from Los Gatos, CA, Dredg began sharpening their aggro-metal sound in the early '90s. Comprised of Gavin Hayes (vocals/guitar), Mark Engles (guitar), Drew Roulette (bass), and Dino Campanella (drums), the group was performing in area clubs before they'd even graduated from high school. Dredg self-released the Orph EP in 1997. The ambitious Leitmotif followed two years late, and it was reissued with the band's 2001 signing to Interscope. El Cielo, Dredg's proper Interscope debut, arrived in...
