This is what I needed
and I didn't even realize it! I discovered Saru by accident in 2001, with Downtempo Dojo, and I was immediately taken by his unique take on downtempo. This album is lush, sophisticated, eerie, and gorgeous! Quite a bit different, more polished, and incorporates more sampled instrumentals than his previous releases, but don't let that dissuade you--I'm psyched with everything he's put out, and this is no exception....it's frickin delicious!!!
a true return to form...
I have to admit I was not a big fan of the last Machine CD aside from the first track, but The Pearl is truly a return to the Downtempo Dojo days of Saru. Totally love the first 4 tracks, and the rest of the CD is pretty good too.
