Customer Reviews
Incredible
Everyone should see this documentary! I just saw it on the History Channel and hope to show it to students soon. Incredible, profound, and haunting in its relevance to our current troop deployment in Afghanistan.
Powerful voices, powerful songs
Don't pay attention to the politically motivated reviews. They're simply afraid of some ideology they feel is expressed in the documentary, which I have not seen. Apple should expunge all the one-word reviews and commentary that are clearly from people not interested in really reviewing the music. (I doubt they even watched the documentary. Probably their favorite radio/tv idol told them not to.)
Here's what you need to know: these are some of the outstanding vocal performers of our time -- Dylan, Taj Mahal, John Legend, Springsteen, Randy Newman -- doing powerful songs of a genre that seems to be forgotten today but is sorely needed in these times. It could only be better if it had included something from Richie Havens.
Killer Soundtrack!
Finally a soundtrack where all the songs rock! Love the John Legend cover of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On". And the Rich Robinson (from the Black Crowes) track is amazing. CI'm going to watch this film on Sunday night (history channel). It's supposed to be great.
