The wait is over!

Julian Velard's long awaited and highly anticipated studio album "The Planeteer" is finally here! Julian is a master at blending jazz, pop and soul and this album not only fuses those elements, but is his best yet. The album contains some fan favorites from his EP "The Movies Without You." "Joni," "Little Demons," "Jimmy Dean & Steve McQueen" and "A Dream," all popular tunes from the EP have been newly mixed for this album. They remain "classic JV" and are ever so slightly enhanced and sound even better than before. "All In All" is a welcome addition. Previously on Julian's earlier live album "Nightime" which won me over as a fan, it's a standout that showcases his jazz sensibilities, but is so fresh that contemporary pop listeners will stop and take notice. The new songs "Automatic," "Merry Go Round," "Do It Alone" and the crowd pleaser "Love Again For The First Time" (stripped and acoustic) are fun, uptempo and feature Julian's ever constant lyrical wit. Julian is a born entertainer and his live shows capture his irreverent sense of humor and high energy one would expect listening to his recorded work. That said, when Julian writes and sings from his heart and slows the tempo down, masterpieces like "End of an Era" have the unique ability to surprise and deeply move any listener. It's depth and beauty are remarkable. "Been This Strange" is a contender as well. Wait for the build. It sneaks up on you in a good way. All in all, "The Planeteer" is a fabulous album recorded by an incredibly talented musician, singer/songwriter and comes highly recommended.

Extraordinary performer

If you haven't heard this amazing singer/songwriter, you should. My daughters discovered him 5 years ago and we have not missed any of his CDs. There is something incredibly charming and engaging about his music; it is real without being cliché. One song puts a spring on your step or a smile on your face (James Dean & Steve McQueen) and another one makes you remember a lost love (A dream), all within a few tracks. I don't know about you, but I don't like CDs where song after song sounds the same or feels like the same story told over and over.

This CD has a mix of his earlier material but with a new and refreshed feel; evident of his last year living in London and taking his music throughout Europe.

Listen to the samples and if you like what you hear, get the album. And if he is EVER playing in a venue near you DONT MISS IT. The only thing better than the CDs is to see him perform live. You can check his performance schedule on his award-winning website julianvelard.com (at the very least, go check his website, it's awesome)

Great!

I have all of Julian's albums, and this is definitely the best yet. The new versions of the older tracks are great. He's such a talented guy.

Born in New York on October 6, 1979, Julian Velard would hold his ground in the early '90s — he was into crooners, cabaret, and piano-focused singer/songwriters, while grunge, guitars, and angst were on the ascent — to become a bit of an Internet phenomenon in England, where his unique yet reverential form of songwriting took hold in 2006. After completing school, Velard began gigging around Brooklyn, and while he received some solid attention for his work, he went relatively unnoticed...
