I can taste the waste!

Ween's second studio album is not for the faint-of-heart. Definitely some of the strangest music recorded in the 90's, yet within their still beats at it's heart a pop band waiting to find it's audience. Not for people who rock out to American Idol, this album (as well as most of Ween's discography) stakes it's claim on music inspired by the classics, but bent like the reflection of a funhouse mirror. A great album to listen to if you are a recording newbie. Learn from the masters of low-fi silliness.

Holding each back are compromises in production quality and in lyrical clarity, but that's what makes the album special, and every song an inside joke you feel you're in on.

Despite a mastery for seemingly every mutation of the musical spectrum, the group refused to play it straight; in essence, Ween was bratty deconstructionists, kicking dirt on the pop world around them with demented glee. Along with the occasional frat-boy lapses into misogyny, racism,...
