Lots to love
I've heard several tracks off this album both at The Current and on Messersmith's webpage. I have really loved what I've heard so far: "Dilinger Eyes", "Girl, Boy and a Grave", "Violetti". My advice would be to defintely NOT buy the album from ITunes, as Messersmith offers a pay-what-you-want feature right on his website for digital download. You can also give a listen to all three of his albums on his page. Frikkin' sweet. The song I keep playing right now is "John the Determinist". Good, good stuff.
Don't Let His Rivers Cuomo-esque Appearance Fool You, Jeremy Can Write A Good Pop Song
I was fortunate enough to see Jeremy Messersmith perform at the MPR booth at the Minnesota State Fair this past week. And he is GREAT live and really knows how to work a loop machine. That being said, the album does not disappoint. The sound reminds me of the 88 but a notch up. There are no songs on the album that I dislike. I definitely recommend the download of "Violet!" and "Dillinger Eyes."
