Album Review

Appropriately enough, 2002 picked their namesake year to release the career retrospective The Sacred Well: Best of 2002. The collection gathers a dozen of the new age group's definitive pieces from the past decade, including "Lover's Bridge," "To Touch the Sky," "Summer of 300 Years," and "The Ocean Dreams." Interestingly, the compilation includes nothing from their first two albums, Wings and Savitri, while it features three tracks from their 2002 release Across an Ocean of Dreams. The collection also draws heavily from River of Stars and Land of Forever and includes three previously unreleased tracks: "City of Peace," "Kindred Spirit," and "Full Circle." So while Sacred Well: Best of 2002 may not be the most balanced representation of their work, it does provide a fairly good collection of their more recent material, which mixes the pristine, glistening textures of their sound with a warmer emotional depth.

The Most Soothing and Relaxing Music I Know Of

The troops here in Afghanistan and Iraq appreciate being able to unwind while listening to 2002.

Another beautiful compilation!

I repeatedly listen to "Stardust" with it's "Enya-like" angelic chorus...but it's the wholeness of the track that wraps me up in the 2002 sound like a warm blanket. Full of sparkling guitar and breathy flute intertwining with the gentle rhythms and those soaring vocals....I love that "Stardust"! "Kindred Spirit" was written as an homage to Hilary Stagg...he would have LOVED it...and the the last two tracks are exquisite and so representative of 2002's style. 2002 music sometimes creates very strong images in my mind...and sometimes it simply directs me into a state of restful peace...essential new age music.

great, but can't do them justice

The Calling is absolutely one of the most beautiful passages I've ever heard. I own all there albums. There are gems on all of them. Land of Forever is the best. If you don't go deeper than this album, you will miss out on a lot. There are beautiful songs from Chrysalis also not here.
