Album Review
This disc features the work of Italian-born composer Niccola Matteis, who settled in England and produced wonderful music that blended Italian Baroque with British folk styles. These pieces, in marvelous performance by the Chatham Baroque Ensemble, seem to evoke the real meaning of humor: the varying human spirit rather than the spirit of the jester.

Chatham Baroque demonstrates yet again that they are a tour de force in the baroque music world. Exceptional fidelity, acoustics and individual performances mark this CD as a fine example of baroque music.
