Its worth the wait
Yet again Owen has a done it again with his melodic guitar rifts and soft smooth honest voice. This album brings comforting soothing melodies that one could say puts a person's mind at ease. There is something about this band that warm and holesome and brings a stay at home and listen for hours feel. His voice is romantic and one could imagine him whispering his words into a listener's ears. Something that is personal, and truthful in every statement. His lyrics are sincere and thoughtful and every word has a purpose and not just anything to fill the sound. I was so happy to see him start making new music again. I would recommend this album to anyone
the kinsella musical dynasty continues
admittedly i'm a huge freaking fanboy of anything mike kinsella touches, so please take that into account in regards to my review. however, i still try to push my undying love under the radar when doing any sort of review. in all honesty, there's "technically" not any "new" material here: most of these songs were exclusive to the japanese releases of prior CD's (A Fever on "at home...", I woke up today on "i do perceive", etc.) or on the various LPs Owen has done throughout the years. Now though, we - the fans - get to have them all on CD and don't have to try and obtain a record player to hear this beautiful music. aside from the fact this is more or less a B-sides/rarities CD, it still delivers. This is the kind of CD that just reminds you of Sunday mornings: for me, it's the hungover drive home and it's all the better. Deeply personal and quite contemplative lyrics hold everything together beautifully; it's rare you get such an emotional artist that can portray feelings without sounding down right cheesy or using a phrase we've heard a million times, but kinsella pulls it off. The whole CD is worth buying, any Owen fans will love it and newcomers might find something to sink their teeth into. Mike Kinsella, please don't ever stop making music.
