Album Review

More than ten years after the Art of Noise left Trevor Horn's ZTT label to record on their own, original members Anne Dudley and Paul Morley reunited with Horn plus 10cc's Lol Creme to record another LP, organized around the work of French modernist composer Claude Debussy. With a guest list including John Hurt as well as Rakim, the album charts the artistic use of sampled breakbeats — pioneered by the Art of Noise themselves — with nods to '80s hip-hop plus their '90s equivalent, drum'n'bass. Though the Art of Noise doesn't sound quite as brash as they did in their '80s prime, The Seduction of Claude Debussy is an interesting showcase of what made the group great.

Art of Noise expands the dimensions of album music

It is important for me to write this review and spread the absolute listening pleasure of this album. I was first introduced to it in 2000 and since then have made it a habit to listen to it often. It is by far the most inventive, ground-breaking album music that I have ever heard. The interplay of classical, contemporary and modern music styles is pure genius. Add to that the excellent narrative that occurs throughout the songs and the flow that the songs take (they all merge together beautifully) and you have an album that has expanded the dimensions of what is possible in an album. Bravo to Art of Noise for this amazing work of art.

A listening delight

I know Art of Noise from the 80's but had never heard this album until 2006. I was blown away. The little snippets you get from itunes can't even convey how amazing this album is. It is the nicest amalgamation of electronic, classical and opera I have ever heard. You truly feel like some bit of culture has been imbued upon you just by listening to this. It has an operatic sense about it, as well, as if you can see it play out in your mind as you listen to it. Truly the most colorful album I have ever heard. This is the first and probably only time I have given an album 5 stars. It richly deserves it.

One of their best ever!!!!

I have fallen totally in love with this album, it does take you to another place. The muse will have her way! This is an Art Of Noise must have album!
