Quietly stunning
Perhaps I'm biased because I am wholly in love with Cousins' previous cd, "If You Were For Me," but truly: "The Send Off" is perfectly beautiful.
Poignant lyrics punctuate the layered sounds of guitars and piano. There's a great mix of faster songs to float against the slower, more haunting songs. At times, particularly in "White Daisies," Rose Cousins sounds just a bit like Patty Griffin, but calmer and smoother. The sound, however, is all Rose.
Amazing cd. Buy it.

Rose's voice and songs get into your heart and fill it up with beauty.. if you're thinking about buying this record, buy this record.
So good...
Rose's work is just very visceral - she has a great new album coming out called "We Have Made a Spark". I have heard it early because I was a Kickstarter.com contributor. It is REALLY good - I am seriously addicted to this album. Having said that, "The Send Off" is also really good - I will just put it on at full volume on a Friday night. It is a great end-of-the-week album - it is like taking the weekend for yourself...
