Descendents/ALL or Something Completely Different?
Hello, IT'S Stephen Egerton. You know, the last guitarist who joined the Descendents and became ALL! If you're love the Descendents and if you love ALL, you'll love this. Better yet, Stephen plays every instrument on the disc and has invited a cast of 16 guest vocalists. The singers range from well known big label punk heroes to never heard of buddies of SE's. Believe me when I tell you, Stephen and ALL of his guest singers put a hole in the center of this target.
At times, the songs step out of the expected as shown on When They Roam with Joey Cape and Willie Wicked with Abe Brennan. Both songs don't fit the traditional D/A mold but yet grab their balls and run out the door with them. Trust me, it's good stuff.
The highlights for the masses are obviously South For The Winter with Tim McIllrath from Rise Against and Our Last Song with devil worshiping Dan Adriano from Alkaline Trio. These songs are great in their own right, but the highlight for the true, old school, Descendents fans is She's Got Everything with Milo. Who am I kidding, I love all three.
A couple of songs combine some old feel with a soulful vocal twist like FIre's On and Abundance of Fluff. These two are what D/A may have sounded like if they were from Nashville/Memphis and it actually works very well. In fact, these two are my early favorites, other then the Milo song. (I'm a diehard Descendents fan from way back, wayyyyyyy back)
This CD is a must own for any old fans and it also for anyone who is about to become a Descendents fan after listening to their "Punk Rock" heroes sing with a time tested veteran of the scene. Just BUY IT!
5 Stars All the Way
Track #14 "Falling Out" sounds like my wet dream, Frank D. singing for ALL/Descendents.
love it
Jesse Cole is my hero!
