Album Review
This companion piece to Black Label Society's 2010 offering Order of the Black finds Zakk Wylde and company running through selected tracks from the record, as well as a handful that didn’t make the cut, like a lovely rendition of Blind Faith's "Can't Find My Way Home," in an acoustic fashion. Stripped down, songs like “Overlord” and “Parade of the Dead” owe more to Alice in Chains' 1996 Unplugged album than they do Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin, but the string and piano-laden accompaniment lends a more ornate, Skynyrd-meets-Bad Company vibe to the occasion than it does a rainy, hopeless, late-'90s day in Seattle. Wylde's powerful croon is more pronounced (you can almost hear his colossal beard), and the arrangements are well thought out and appropriate for the material, making it less a gimmicky version, despite its excellent title, of Order of the Black and more like its dark shadow.

Awesome Unplugged Album
Just fantastic. Unplugged and it's Black Label Society, Need I say More? Darkest Days sounds awesome on this album!
Zakk does it again....acoustically
First of all, let's say there are some people out there who want Zakk/BLS to continue to record "Bleed For Me" type songs and who are hyper critical WHENEVER the band comes out with something a little different or fresh. Those people need to get a grip and realize that TRUE artists (particularly in music) rarely put out the same-sounding album over and over again. Get a grip.
Now on to better things...The Song Remains Not The Same. This album will interest those who enjoyed Book of Shadows and or Hangover Music Vol VI. It incorporates the "stripped down" acoustic versions of a few songs from The Order of the Black and includes the 4 special edition covers (Can't Find My Way Home, Junior's Eyes, Helpless, Bridge Over Troubled Waters). In addition, there is a rendition of Darkest Days with John Rich (Big & Rich) that should appeal to the country music fan.
All in all, this is another GREAT record from Zakk and the boys. Don't rent a gun and buy a bullet (Chandler Horne). Rent a PA system and buy the album!! It's SLAM'N!!
