Lush and Dreamy
The Stoner Set is the solo EP of Teresa of The Virgo 9. It is a departure from her gritty, stoner rock. She shows her versatility as an artist here. Normally, the rock n' roll is raw and in your face. But on The Stoner Set each song is laced with complex arrangements and some well placed fuzz. All this makes for a very dreamy set of music. Initially, "My Love" was my go to favorite song, but "It Feels Like" has really taken hold of me. Reminiscent of early Belly, this song is ethereal and haunting musically and lyrically. Based on this work here, I can't wait to here more of the stoner rock that is to come from The Virgo 9.
Designed for Lounging
A month ago The Virgo 9's "Stoner Set" fell through my letterbox and it's taken me this long to decide which song to use on this compilation. The CD is shows off a brightmellow side of this punk-psych band that a whole lot of people have grown to love through their help on previous compilations (in fact they are probably one of the most mentioned artists in conversations I have with people as in "oh The Virgo 9 - I love em"). "The Stoner Set" seemed to have been designed for lounging around and looking at things quietly, tracks like "My Love", "Riverbanks", and "It Feels Like" have kept me captivated for weeks. But in the end I've gone for "Gavin's Theme" - a melodic and haunting piano instrumental from as far back as 2004. It always stops me in my tracks when I hear it & so I hope you'll love to hear it too. The Daydream Generation
