Deeply connected...
The greatest movie soundtracks cannot be understood without seeing the movie itself. This could not be truer with the soundtrack of Soraya M. Having seen the movie I can tell you that the movie and music flow together in a way that evokes such great emotion. I bought the soundtrack for this reason and it hasn't disappointed. I highly recommend both seeing the movie and getting the music.
The Genius of John Debney Once Again Shines through in The Stoning of Soraya M.
John Debney has done it again. After showcasing his breathtaking musical artistry in The Passion of the Christ, he takes us on a new journey into the Orient, weaving the complex tapestries of Middle Eastern music into a brilliant story, poignant and heart-wrenching as it is. There is no need to have seen the movie in order to appreciate this album (I have not yet seen the movie myself). The music on its own is emotional and complex, leading the listener to find something newly enjoyable upon each listen. If you love the soulful music of the Middle East, Debney will not let you down. Be sure to check out his "Passion of the Christ" album as well. Ten stars, two thumbs up, highly recommended!
