Album Review

Vitamin's String Quartet Tribute to Velvet Revolver is an instrumental interpretation of the hard rock supergroup's debut album, performed by two violinists, a violist, and a cellist. It's the latter instruments that really stand out. They carry the album's chugging and churning bottom end as the variously layered and interlocking violins recreate the vocal melodies. Standouts include "Big Machine," "Dirty Little Thing," and especially the softer "Fall to Pieces," which features a beautiful cello/viola duet. There's also a version of the Velvet Revolver hit "Slither" that really nails the song's power and decadence.

Simply Phenomenal!

I stumbled upon this album since I recognized Andy Warhols cover art and picked it up for my father who has always been a fan. This album caught me by surprise and I ended up having to break out my father's collection to compare to the originals. Simply amazing! I highly recommend!
