Album Review

Consolidating the strengths of Shabooh Shoobah, The Swing is the first consistently impressive INXS album. With the Nile Rodgers-produced "Original Sin" acting as the centerpiece, The Swing retains the new wave pop sense and rock attack of their earlier albums, while adding a stronger emphasis on dance rhythms. At the same time, the group's songwriting had improved, with more than half of the album featuring memorable hooks.

Customer Reviews

Good Cd- But missing its Biggest Single

I gave This CD 3 stars because its missing Original Sin. Just as a warning to anyone buying this CD. It is available on the greatest hits here on Itunes. So why isn't it available here? I liked the album when I bought it back in the 80's. Showed the direction that the band was going in. While it wasn't as successful as some of their other cd's it is a sleeper that creeps up on you.

If You Don't Like It NEVER LISTEN TO 80's Again

The Best Album Ever! The Best Are Oringal Sin, Dancing On The Jetty And Johnson's Aeroplane

Best INXS album

This is one of those rare albums that you literally will listen to from start to finish without skipping anything. I think this is better than Kick, less of a commercial hit with stronger songs. Try some of the less well known songs ... "Melting in the Sun", "Dancing on the Jetty", and "Johnson's Aeroplane." I'd place this in my Top Ten albums of all time.

Biography

Formed: 1977 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australi

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

INXS hailed from the pubs of Australia, which is part of the reason the band never comfortably fit in with new wave. Even when they branched out into synth pop on their early recordings, they were underpinned by a hard, Stonesy beat and lead singer Michael Hutchence's Jagger-esque strut. Ultimately, these were the very things that made INXS into international superstars in the late '80s. By that time, the group had harnessed its hard rock, dance, and new wave influences into a sleek, stylish groove...
