Texas Style
I don't know who wrote the notes regarding this album, but they must have been smoking Norwegian wood. Texas Gypsies being confused with Belfast Gypsies? Very strange indeed. Forget everything you read in the iTunes notes. This album was done by Steve Curry, Erik Swanson, Jim Baker and John Hewitt with a add-in of Larry Reed on bass. They play different tunes, some of their own included, and put a Texas Swing tilt to it. Buy the album and enjoy.
A Shockingly Swingin' CD From Texas!
This CD is exactly what every swing dancer, two-stepper, or Texan needs in their collection. The Texas Gypsies' music is eminently danceable, with a fresh and vibrant sound, at times reminiscent of the best of Django Reinhardt. The Gypsies' version of the classic "It Don't Mean A Thing" rivals even the original, while their revision of "I Will Survive" makes even a cliched pop-ballad exciting--almost certainly better than the original. Swing dancers will love "Dallas & Ft. Worth", "Ring of Fire", and the amusing "Texas Gypsy Theme", while hard-core Texans will love every track on this CD. This CD has become one of my favourites, and will certainly show up in my next swing mix. I whole-heartedly recommend this CD.
Love the Texas Gypsies...
This album and all other TG albums are great for dancing and just feeling good...they've come and played at the University of Dallas for our Swing Club a couple times, and it's been just fantastic. Impossible to feel down with this music playing...
