A Treat for the Senses

I've loved this cd since it came out in 2001 - I almost passed a music store on Haight Street in San Francisco, they were playing it, and I was just compelled to go in and get a copy. There's a great variety in the moods set by each piece of music; some fun, some earthy moving, some ethereal and some almost mystical. The other reviewer's comment about similar songs on other cds appears correct from a sampling on iTunes - Third Planet is comprised of such a diverse group of musicians, perhaps they have had trouble getting together to create a substantial number of new recordings -

I would recommend buying this cd from iTunes and then adding to your Third Planet collection with *individual* song purchases sampled from the other cds. The beauty of iTunes!

Nice Repeat Performance

Very enjoyable listen, and I happily recommend this album! BUT... you should pay attention to the song titles before purchasing anything else to avoid being ripped off. They seem to have a habit of releasing the same music under different album titles / artwork or slightly altered song titles to make it appear as if they're producing something new & different, but much of it is a repeat performance (for example, "Baghdad Rai" from Third Planet is the same as "Baghdad" from Kurdistani). I bought this album and Kurdistani before noticing the first three tracks on Kurdistani are repeated on this recording, and found repeats on their other recordings as well.
