Very emotional
Kris Allen sounds amazing on this song. He puts so much feeling into the lyrics. I love the verse that's like "Honesty is Honestly the hardest thing for me right now. This is one of my favorite songs from the album. People should really check out "Alright With Me", "Can't Stay Away" "Written All Over My Face" and "I Need To Know", those are just a few of the great songs from Kris' debut album.
Poetry in Motion
While I like the original better, this song, like all the others on the album are absolutely poetically stunning. The emotions Kris evokes from the listener as powerful. And his soul shining through his voice, pulling you into the story he tells is captivating. He has become my favourite artist by far.
The Truth is Out!
The melody is a tuneful power ballad, and I like it, but the lyrics are heartfelt and fascinatingly on-topic for Kris Allen, though they were written by Pat Monahan, who does featured vocals on this version of the song. Kris always puts his heart into his singing and has a strong, unique ability to convey emotion both on his recordings and in person.
Kris seems to relate to what he sings and choose songs accordingly. Certainly he is an adept songwriter, but this song also conveys the feeling that it is personal to him. Don't let people tell you it is a standard, boring ballad about a breakup. The singer is at the point of hesitating to hurt the former love even though they both clearly see "the elephant in the room," who will not be denied. Elephants are like that.
