iTunes Review

A certain elegance has defined Tony Bennett’s music from the beginning. Over the course of nearly 60 years, this evergreen artist has pursued his art with taste, refinement, and modesty. The Ultimate Tony Bennett does an excellent job of surveying his recording output from 1951’s “Because of You” onwards. Early hits like “The Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “Rags to Riches” have an operatic boldness to them. Later, Bennett’s bravura style gained a mellow patina, allowing for a more reflective, bittersweet quality to his performances. The heady delight of “Stranger in Paradise” gives way to the softer moods of “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” and “I Wanna Be Around” — yet, if anything, Bennett seems more confident as he grows more wistful. The yearning he brings to “Blue Velvet” and “When Joanna Loved Me” is nothing less than exquisite. And when he cuts loose with a jazzily upbeat number like “Steppin’ Out With My Baby,” the result is sweet indeed. Finally, Bennett’s 1999 recording of “Mood Indigo” demonstrates his ability to sustain his artistry into his senior years. First track to last, this is a sterling collection by a truly class (and classic) act.

Tony Bennett is da Man!

To clear thigns up, yes I am emo. And yes, I listen to Tony Bennett. My friends think it's strange also. But Tony Bennett rocks out loud! Nothing beats The Best Is Yet To Come. It's the music of music. Now I'm not saying I don't like FOB or MCR or Panic! anymore, it's just, Tony Bennett rules.I recommend FOB and MCR and Panic! also. ;) Might I add this is teh first review. 8)

This is wonderful music

Tony Bennett has been with us for a very long time. This collection gives a glimpse of how his style has changed over the years. The early 50s Tony was straining a bit to get to those high notes. As things progress he becomes more relaxed and secure and everything mellows out to some of the most distinctive and enjoyable music on the planet.

Tony Bennett's career has enjoyed three distinct phases, each of them very successful. In the early '50s, he scored a series of major hits that made him one of the most popular recording artists of the time. In the early '60s, he mounted a comeback as more of an adult-album seller. And from the mid-'80s on, he achieved renewed popularity with generations of listeners who hadn't been born when he first appeared. This, however, defines Bennett more in terms of marketing than music. He himself probably...
