Album Review

Fusing together the musical complication and ingenuity of King Crimson with the ferocity and D.C.-sound of Fugazi, Faraquet have created an album of technical, churning, and passionate frenzies collapsed into melodically pleasing atrophy. After several smaller releases of 7" singles and four songs on a split single with the choppy, quirk-filled Akarso, the band moved to Dischord for the release of their first full-length, The View From This Tower. May be considered one of the best debut releases of 2000.

Customer Reviews

One of the Best Albums Ever, Period.

Faraquet is just incredible. The pure musicality of the band is intimidating. The play with odd time signatures and playful melodies makes this album near perfect. Taking some elements from the fairly new genre of Math Rock, Faraquet blend very complex songs with pop hooks that keep the listener interested for more than just nine songs, so it is unfortunate when the album ends. The band is known for not being fond of writing lyrics, but the lyrics are near flawless and blend perfectly with the music. Dischord would be wise to get this band to record another album, but unfortunately we have been waiting nearly six years for that. Though this is Faraquet's (seemingly) only album, it really is necessary for any Dischord fan or any music fan to buy. A great band, who will probably never get their due. Buy this album, you will not regret a second of it.

Truly amazing

From the first track to the last, you need this CD. If you are a fan of the radio-unfriendly and are looking for a change, this album (and band) offers brilliant bursts of odd time signatures, melodies, and plain great music.

Truly Stunning

I remember the day I first heard this album, honestly, it changed my life. The reason I started playing drums and really opened my musical mind to new things. Honestly one of the best albums all around I have ever listened to. I listen to everything, but this album is stunning, the dynamics, the timing, the texture. This cd was the only cd in my car for a period of monthes, you can listen to it over and over and over enjoying it more and more and finding more and more in it, lyrically, musically, i can't say enough about this band
