iTunes Review

Back in 1997, two young rappers from New York emerged and dropped an indisputable classic called The War Report. Loaded with dark-yet-infectious production and ultra-grimy lyricism riddled with vivid crime stories, it immediately established CNN as certified street-rhyme specialists. In the years that followed, Nore embarked on a successful solo career, scoring hits with crossover club bangers as well as reggaeton jams, while Capone bounced in and out of jail, also dropping solo joints but staying more in the shadows. The War Report 2 has been rumored for years, with leaked tracks whetting the appetites of hardcore New York thug-rap fanatics, and now it's finally here. Alchemist, Scram Jones, Buckwild, and more obscure beat-makers provide the perfect sonic accompaniment to their back-and-forth wordplay, with Nore delivering his trademark bizarro slanguage and Capone serving up raspy felonious tales. Raekwon, Nas, and the Lox all stop by for guest verses, but it's CNN themselves who really impress here, sounding better than they have in years. Exceptional from start to finish, with standout tracks like "Favor For A Favor," "Pain," and "Live On Live Long, Pt. 2."

Every track is a banga devastation

Classic

This album is decent. It's way better than Drake's Thank Me Later. Buy this, you won't be disappointed.

very impressed

Ya know, I'm 33 and I grew up listening to underground hip hop but for some reason I slept on the original War Report. Not sure if there were just a ton of other albums out at that time that I was listening to or what...I knew it was great but I never owned it. Decided to pick this up today though and its really really good.

The beats are absolutely SICK and Noreaga drops some nasty verses. I wish all hip hop still sounded like this! All that Lil Wayne crunk BS needs to go. Its been a good stretch for real hip hop though...War Report 2, Cuban Linx 2, Distant Relatives, Bone, new Cypress, Wu Massacre, and the new Reflection Eternal.

Now if only the Pharcyde would get back together...

Queens rap duo Capone-N-Noreaga enjoyed massive street credibility with the release of their debut album, The War Report, which earned them a devoted following in the hardcore rap world. Capone (born Kiam Holley) and Noreaga (born Victor Santiago) grew up in the projects of Queensbridge and LeFrak City, respectively, and endured rough childhoods and multiple run-ins with the law. They met in 1992 while serving kitchen duty together at Collins Correctional Facility in New York, and became friends;...
