Parachute’s 2011 sophomore long-player The Way It Was succeeds at offering a little something for everyone. The album’s first cut “White Dress” plays like a fast-driving American version of Coldplay with a more explosive chorus before echoing Kings Of Leon’s Southern-tinged formula on the “Something to Believe In.” The power ballad “Forever and Always” wraps a sentimental Kelly Clarkson-esque narrative (involving an engaged couple) inside the melody. The uplifting “American Secrets” even taps into the small-town sentiment of those heartland hymns cranked out of Music City — all it needs is a pedal steel mixed in to get airplay on Contemporary Country radio stations. “Philadelphia” ends with some blue-eyed-soul flirtations.

Fantastic Album!
Such a great follow up to Losing Sleep. This album continues to show Parachute's extremely awesome music abilities. Everyone should definitely give Parachute a listen, they will most likely find that they enjoy them!!! AMAZING!
Parachute is an excellent band
They did not disappoint. Waited 2 years for this, and I absolutely loved it.
The Way It IS!
Beginning to end, this album is golden! I've been listening to it streaming for the past week and I just cannot get enough of these solid jams. The lyrics are phenomenal—I DARE you to listen to FOREVER AND ALWAYS without tearing up! Parachute has kicked up their game and has proven to the music industry with THE WAY IT WAS that they know how to create quality music for the masses. With a perfect blend of rockin' guitars, sweet falsetto, and funky saxophone grooves, this album is sure to wow your ears! AMERICAN SECRETS and YOU AND ME are tied for my favorites!
If you have never heard the band before, I would recommend you buy FOREVER AND ALWAYS, KISS ME SLOWLY, and YOU AND ME!
