Had to sing this my freshman year:)
Wow.I had to sing 45 minutes straight of the requiem. They are beautiful pieces! Great job by the choirs! <3
Wonderful composer
First off this is a wonderful CD. Faure's music is emotional. As fiery as Wagner and Mahler can be, Faure is the opposite... very gentle. However, I am surprised by the orchestra and choirs, specifially of the caliber of these performers, namely the Academy of St. Marin/Fields. Entrances did not happen together, breath points are odd, and there are support issues on some tracks. I would even be tempted to even give it three stars if I knew for a fact the soloist on Pie Jesu was a soprano and not a boy soprano. I am not displeased with the purchase, but if you are looking for a clean recording, this is not it.
Pelleas et Melisande memories...
"Sicilienne" - such a beautiful piece, and the melody is so haunting. I remember playing the 4th horn part in my second semester in Orchestra. I didn't play in the majority of the piece. I had the opportunity that most people don't. To hear what the orchestra sounds like from the inside. Strangely enough, I don't remember the other three movements, just this one. It sounds just like I remembered.
