Released in June of 1985, Theater of Pain finds Motley Crue in a personal and creative ebb. Vince Neil was facing charges of vehicular manslaughter in connection with the drunk-driving death of Motley pal and Hanoi Rocks drummer Razzle Dingley, but the rude awakening had not helped to slow the other members’ worsening addictions. In addition, the Crue was searching for an identity in the rapidly changing metal scene, where tastes would shift from Judas Priest to Poison to Guns N’ Roses in just a matter of years. But like determined hosts, Motley kept the party going. Highlights include “City Boy Blues” and a cover of Brownsville Station’s “Smokin’ In the Boys Room,” two cocksure, bluesy struts that start off the album in fine style. “Louder Than Hell” is a grinding headbanger than has the band swearing allegiance to their debauched lifestyle, while “Home Sweet Home” is perhaps their most pompous, but memorable, power ballad. The plodding “Save Our Souls” and the regrettable Twisted Sister rip-off “Raise Your Hands To Rock” are missing the fire that ignites Motley’s best songs, but the whiplash velocity of “Use It Or Lose It” is a surging reminder of the fire this band brings when they’re on.

Good To See Motley Back On iTunes

This was the folow up to "Shout At the Devil" and the band was on a continual downward spiral. Vince had killed his buddy from Hanoi Rocks in a drunk driving accident and the bands drug use was getting more and more out of control. It would hit its worst on the "Girls Girls Girls" tour. This was Motley's glam phase. If you watch the video for "Smokin' in the Boys Room" it almost seems like Poison rather than Motley crue. Once you get past the image though, there are some great songs on this album. They include "Use it or Loose it", "Home Sweet Home" and "Save Our Souls". This isn't Motley's best album, "Shout at the Devil" is. But there are a few hidden gems worth checking out.

Phenomonal

I grew up listening to the Crue, and out of all of their albums, I would rank this #1 This is my list of albums in order of awesomeness 1.Theatre of Pain 2. Too Fast For Love 3. Shout at the Devil 4. Girls, Girls, Girls 5. Dr. Feelgood Now this album is classic Crue from start to finish, I know more than half of this album by heart. This is how I rate the songs City Boys Blue - My dad's fav song on the album, but not mine. Doesn't stand out at the beginning, but once it picks up, it is pretty good. Good Opening for a great album. 8/10 Smokin' In the Boy's Room - The first Motley Crue song I recognized when I first started getting into them at the age of 11. Good stuff, and great harmonica solo! I love the music video for this too. Grade A Motley Crue 9/10 Louder Than Hell - Probably one of my favs on the album. Great drums, great guitar, and some great vocals. I just wish it was longer... 10/10 Keep Your Eye On the Money - Another one of my favs, great cowbell! Probably one of the most catchy guitar parts on the album. 9.5/10 Home Sweet Home - Overrated song, but that does not mean it is not awesome! One of the first power ballads, and inspired me to start playing piano. 8.5/10 Tonight (We Need a Lover) - Never really stood out to me, but still pretty good. 7.5/10 Use It or Lose It - Great guitar part, nice drums. Really picking up the pace! Hardest song on the album. 8.5/10 Save Our Souls - Another one that doesn't stand out. My second least favorite on the album. 7/10 Raise Your Hands to Rock - My dad loves this song, but I could never see why. My least favorite on the album. 6.5/10 Fight For Your Rights - This is the most kickass Motley Crue song ever. Once of the most catchy guitar parts in the history of forver, and...well...everything is great in this song! The best part is that it even has a message along with it. Best Motley Crue song. 9000/10 So buy this album, you will not regret it!

Mötley Crüe f*****g rocks!

Other than "Girls, Girls, Girls" this is their best work! If I were you I would check out this classic album. It was not one of Mick Mars' favorite albums because of all the drug use back then. But if you get past that Mötley still rocks harder than anyone else. I would highly suggest you get this album because it is so f*****g awesome the all the songs on here are classic Crüe and it rocks hard. Rock On Everyone! Have an awesome time listening to this!
