Album Review

The core duo of Airpushers first gained notice as the heart of the Black Eyed Peas' live band. Both are multi-instrumentalists, and Printz Board is also that band's arranger and musical director and shares songwriting credits on several of their biggest hit singles. Working with Fergie and the boys is undoubtedly a financial pleasure, but playing "Let's Get It Started" night after night can only be creatively satisfying for so long before things just start getting weird. And get weird they do on the aptly titled Themes for the Ordinarily Strange: these are not full-bore experimental freak-outs, but standard-issue dance-pop tunes that are twisted ever so slightly into new and interesting forms. With session singers like Sy Smith and MoZella taking the diva roles when called for, Airpushers come across like a slightly askew version of the Brand New Heavies, layering their songs with quirky beats and slightly off-center samples that never entirely obscure the obvious pop suss at the heart of the album.

An Amazing Find

I found this album because these are two of the guys in the Black Eyed Peas band. They are kind of like the new NERD. Both of them played about 20 instruments, wrote, and produced this album. Good stuff for music lovers. Hold the Onions is my favorite song. "Think I'm gonna get lucky tonight."

Amazing Horns

I have been looking for an album like this for a long time! It is so nice to find musicians who play their instruments with such creative flair. One of my favorites is Pollo Masala Disco Express...makes me want to dance...and eat spicy food!!! You will not be diasapointed with the vocals on both Fill In The Blanks and Superfriends. There is an instant energy to both songs that carries through the entire album. Overall, the musicianship is amazing and the horns are fantastic...i am looking forward to a sequel!

Odd, but amazing..

I am in DEEP with this record.. At least, most of the songs.. reminds me of Thom Brown, Earth Wind and Fire, mixed with the Gorrillaz and St. Germaine. The album titles are a bit strange, which leads me to believe that these guys are strange in person.. I cant wait to see a show.. its got to be full of horns on stage.. the music is very horn=y, funky, soul, old but new stuff.. keep it comin..
