iTunes Review

When The Sun Goes Down mixes rootsy John Mellencamp-esque themes of small town America with Caribbean vacation daydreams, nostalgic drinking songs like the humorous "Keg In The Closet," and twangy tear jerkers that touch on the tribulations and triumphs of family life. "There Goes My Life" sets the tone for a ballad heavy outing with a sentimental narrative about facing an unexpected pregnancy and surrendering youthful dreams to raise a family before realizing that the rewards of fatherhood surpass those fantasies. It's a moving song that plays heavy on the heartstrings of anyone who has ever had to eschew their own plans and grow up fast. The title track takes a detour down Jimmy Buffett Lane as Chesney picks up where his tropical themed predecessor No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problems left off. The humorous title of "Being Drunk's A Lot Like Loving You" contrasts with the song's slow waltzing tempos and the alcoholic protagonist's soulful cry for help. When The Sun Goes Down conceptually reflects recurring themes in the life of a middle American family man struggling to do the right thing.

This is an amazing cd and all the songs are wonderful, upbeat, and full of tunes that will really get stuck in your head after awhile. I remember my mom used to sing these to me, sadly now she has passed, but these songs make great memories that are all alive in my heart. BUY IT RIGHT NOW IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD TIME!
