Yet Another Five Star Effort by Nathan!
“These Ol’ Keys” is a great step forward for Nathan as an artist. His first release “Through Playing Me” is one of my favorite albums; however, this EP reveals that Nathan had room to grow when he released “Through Playing Me.” The music on “These Ol’ Keys” not only brings a more mature sound but it also demonstrates that Nathan has grown significantly as a writer.
The album starts off with “Way Past Love” which brings great energy and an overall aggressiveness that was absent on Nathan’s previous album. To me, this is a statement track that gives you the feeling that Nathan means business this time around. The background vocals are phenomenal and David LaBruyere’s playing is on point!
The second track “I Need a Woman” is a cool track that has evolved since showing up in Nathan’s live sets. Something that I particularly like about this track is that it has a lot of soul and the band is brought to the forefront.
“Song for a Friend” slows things down a bit and is extremely soulful. Though this song is low-energy, it really stands out to me as one of the better songs on the EP.
“Brighter Day” is a feel-good song in which the joy just radiates. This song is fun and truly reminiscent of Stevie, especially with the Rhodes in the mix. If you need to brighten your day, this is the track to throw on!
The title track, “These Ol’ Keys” really lets Nathan shine as an artist. Subtle organ and background vocals support Nathan as he lays everything out on the table. This is a cool song that is intimate and a great closer to the EP!
Overall, this is a great segue into whatever lies ahead for Nathan. I would recommend this EP for any music fan and if you haven’t picked up “Through Playing Me,” do yourself a favor and get it! Both can be had for under $15.00 via iTunes!

Fantastic second album!
I loved "Through Playing Me" and had very high hopes for this second album. It has far exceeded my expections. It's only five songs but they're all equally fantastic. You can feel the emotion in the title song "These Ol' Keys." "Brighter Day," "Way Past Love" and "I Need A Woman" are great songs to jam out to in your car. "Song for a Friend," like "These Ol' Keys" is a beautiful ballad, the music never overpowering the song.
On a more personal note, I lost someone very close to me in September and I found myself listening to "Brighter Day" over and over. It really helped lift my spirits and picked me up when I was really feeling at my lowest. Nathan has that raw talent and energy that really touches people and I am glad to have had the chance to see him live.
Daily Inspiration
For all of you people who love music, this is a must have album. I have been listening to Nathan for over three years now, and his music never gets old. There is something within his music that keeps you wanting more. The lyrics, the vocals, and the piano all come together to make music that helps you get through the day. I have been waiting for Nathan to make it big, I think it is just a matter of time before more people learn about this guy. I would definitely recommend buying both of his albums, you won't regret your decision. Keep on rockin' Nathan!
