Though 2009’s These Simple Truths marks their major label debut, Sidewalk Prophets have been active on the Christian music scene for some time and sharing the stage with Jeremy Camp, Stellar Kart and other hit makers has helped them achieve a high degree of focus and polish. The tunes here are highly melodic, hook-laden and unambiguously God-centered. The band is often reminiscent of country-pop acts like Rascal Flatts, especially when lead singer David Frey and his band mates lay down luminous vocal harmonies. Tracks like “Just Might Change Your Life,” “All Things New” and “For What It’s Worth” emphasize the transformative power of faith. “Lay Down My Life” and “You Love Me Anyway” find personal ways of expressing age-old Biblical messages. “Moving All the While” strikes a contemplative note with its folk-rooted arrangement. The best realization of Sidewalk Prophets’ vision may be “Show Me How to Love,” a humble, prayer-like lyric set to a galvanizing country-rock track.

Absolutely stunning songwriting

This album has been a long time coming. Being a fan of Christian music for years, I have noticed a need for a band to come along and shake things up from the norm, and Sidewalk Prophets is that band. Each song on the album sounds completely different from the next and all are radio-worthy. From start to finish, I couldn't stop listening. Highlights include the current single, "The Words I Would Say," "You Can Have Me," and "You Love Me Anyway." The latter is a song so thought provoking with such a strong and simple message, Christ is love. What a beautifully simple and gorgeously complex concept. "Moving All the While" brings a welcome hymn-like response to the pleas mentioned in the "Words I Would Say." The album as a whole is well produced, well thought-out, and incredibly well written. Also be sure and catch "Lay Down My Life." Written from Christ's perspective, it is truly moving from melody to lyric, from heart-felt ballad to arena-rock all with a heart that pleads for faith, hope and love... and the greatest of "These Simple Truths" is love. Thank you Sidewalk Prophets for making my year!

GREAT ALBUM

I discovered this group on iTunes when their single "The Words I Would Say" was released. I was excited when their full album came out the other day. They are truly a cool band. They kind of remind me of 33 Miles, which is another group I enjoy listening to. I love all the songs on this album, but I think "Just Might Change Your Life" is my favorite!

terrific new discovery

I purchased this album for "The Words I Would Say" - my current favorite song and my prayer for my teen daughter. The entire album did not disappoint - I'm glad I didn't just buy one song! These guys are true musicians.
