Customer Reviews
Yes, Sure, Whiners like . . .
William Lloyd Garrison, Martin Luther King, Jr., Eugene B. Debs, A. Philip Randolph, Susan B. Anthony . . . Here are a collection of songs by people who feel passionate enough about life to look not only on the sunny beaches but also in the shadowed corners and the darkened cells. People like these have sung our concerns and given voice to our sorrows so that, in time, we all might be able to raise our own tunes of joy more openly, more courageously. Out of the stuff of life, they (at least for me) raise up my spirit.
Total Bliss
A marketer's dream is to create a sampler album which not only highlights artists under contract with the label, but also generates new sales of the artists' material. This CD succeeds on both fronts. I thoroughly enjoy listening to this disc which stands on its own and has prompted me to purchase individual CD's from Greg Brown, The Wailin' Jennys, Eliza Gilkyson, Jimmy LaFave, The Roches and Luck Kaplansky. 'Cept You & Me Babe by Greg Brown is a rare treat and Who Cares by Maggie Roche is an outstanding example of the Roches' work. Kudos to Red House records for putting this collection together!
Time to Reflect
This is a wonderful album. The tunes allow you to sit, relax and contemplate. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the tunes.
