Best of the Grouch; natural and true.

This is the Grouch's best work. all of tracks are the Grouch's beats cept 2 tracks. The guest appearances are also great. and like what Talib says in Relflection Eternal,"Definitely this is how hiphop was meant to be." You really get a feel for who the Grouch was back in the 90s.

It was several years i remember, browsing the hip-hop section at Amoeba in Berkeley, saw the album cover and knew i had to get it. I've been a fan since. Every track, including intermissions, is raw and thoughtful. My favorite is Don't U See. It really isn't a collection of scraps from the 90s. i thought i read in the album cover that there was going to be a They Don't Have This 2.

I can't recommend BUYING the actual CD enough (better sound quality plus albumb art)

His latest solo, Show You the World is also good, but CMA 2 and the colab with Zion-I were disappointments, sorry to say. His rhyming and lyrics seem forced and unnatural, whereas in They Don't Have This, he seems to be more true to himself while flowing naturally.

Keep It Simple Stupid

When someone tells you "less is more", think of this album from Grouch. The beats on this album are softer in tone and more melodic than Grouch's others, but that allows Grouch's lyrics and rhyme skills to really standout. Something From Nothing has one of my favorite lines "how can I be a man, if everyone lends a helping hand?". And there are tracks like Don't U See that make u realize what a good storyteller Grouch is. I still call people "bumper-heads" to this day. The Cuf and Grouch always makes for a sicc track. Something about the Nor Cal combo that kills it every time. This is a must have in the Living Legends collection.

They Don't Have This, but he does

In this album Grouch keeps it unique and epic. With dope beats that leave you dreaming and sick flows that are some of his best, as a whole this album is possibly his greatest. I know it's my favorite.....

Biography

Born: Oakland, CA

Genre: Hip Hop/Rap

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

The Grouch was a founding member of the Living Legends crew, a loose collective of MCs and DJs from the Bay Area, Japan, and Europe. The Living Legends eschewed the gangsta posing that dominated the hip-hop community, especially on the West Coast, in favor of clear-eyed raps about real-life issues. They coupled this with a grassroots approach to the music business, choosing to self-release and market their prodigious output. After forming the Legends crew with Oakland's Mystik Journeymen, Grouch...
