Album Review

For the most part, extreme metal is one of the more one-dimensional sounding genres in all of rock. Before you even hear a specific recording by an artist of the aforementioned genre, you pretty much know what's in store — growls, screams, rapid-fire riffs, etc. And while there are certain elements of Genghis Tron's music that certainly fall under the extreme metal category, the group is one of the few that appear to be incorporating sonic experiments into their white noise. Case in point, 2008's Board Up the House, which slips electronics into the density. The band should also be given an award for creating such an enormous racket with only three people in their band. Don't expect such ditties as the title track or "Things Don't Look Good" to become perennial prom favorites, but as far as trying new approaches within the realm of extreme metal, Genghis Tron definitely succeed on Board Up the House.

What I Have Been Waiting 4 My Hole Life

I have been waiting for someone to take the quantum mechanics of Meshuggah, the genius of Converge, the insanity of Agoraphobic nosebleed, and the epic theatrics of Kraftwerk, and turn it into the most grandiose noisescape, that this young white trash lethario has been waiting to hear, turning my ears into buckets of honey-laced ju-ju-bee tongue-kiss razor blade heart-stopping chest-bursting love-monkeyballs tinfoil. Best album of 2008. Period. This record is likely to be life-changing for many. It sounds like giants stomping through and laying waste to a village of future witches that work in robot factory slurpee machine. You know what I mean?

This album is nothing short of amazing. The way this band has progressed since "Penultimate" just means second to last......" is unbelieveable. "Endless Teeth" and "Things Don't Look Good" blew me away. The drumming is perfectly on key. Every song on here (instrumental/with vocals) is not to be missed and the $10 cost of the album is worth it for the epic song "Relief". This album is only the beginning of Genghis Tron and I can not wait to see these guys in Maryland with Converge. Thank You.

Great CD

honestly, this is better than anything they have put out before. Its a bit calmer than previous releases, but it also has a much higher level of maturity and sophistication. These guys know what theyre doing. Every song has something good to offer. If you are a fan of them, do not hesitate to buy this record. If not, this is probably the most accessible of their releases

First formed in Poughkeepsie, New York before moving to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Genghis Tron was a noise, electronic, IDM, grind, doom, ambient trio that got together in 2004. Their myriad of styles, which were made on-stage and on-record without the aid of bass or drummer, was hard to miss in the post-rock and post-metal world, and leading label Relapse eventually signed them up.
