Raw excellence

As any music by Andy, his freshman album 'Thinks of Her' is full of soul and heart. Andy has the gift of being able to write a song that transports you to the exact moment he is talking about, making you feel like you are experiencing it along with him. There is a full range of emotions on the album, from the can't-help-but-smile "Laugh So You Don't Cry" to the heart-wrenching "Hurts to Watch". In "It Just Happened That Way" he speaks of a kind of accidental relationship that just worked out against the odds, and in "Quicksand" you catch a glimpse of a smitten man trying to get the words out right. The acoustic accompaniment is simple, understated, and a perfect fit to the lyrics, with Andy himself playing many of the instruments. You can easily go through tracks 1-12 in a single sitting, as you get brought into the story he has woven. An excellent job by an amazingly talented man. I would recommend this album to anyone who can appreciate truly passionate songwriting and musicianship.

Oh for the love of Andy....

Easily the best $10 I've ever spent. It is difficult for me to try to describe the talent and musicianship of Andy Davis...the songs written from the heart of this great fun-loving guy have been songs I shared with my first love, as well as songs that I played full-blast with the windows down in the aftermath of our breakup... sometimes singing at the top of my lungs and sometimes in tears and gripping the steering wheel. It was literally "love at first listen" when I first heard Andy play at my college about 4 years ago...the goofy personality, give-ya-goosebumps voice, with a lotta bit of talent and charm thrown in the mix....this guy is the next big thing.

I Think of Andy...

This cd is amazing.His lyrics are wonderfully innovative. He writes his songs about things that everyone thinks about but never actually says. Andy's transparent personality shines through in all of the tracks, with his smooth voice and acoustic guitar. BUY IT!

Raised in Baton Rouge, LA, Nashville-based alt-pop songwriter, singer, and pianist Andy Davis has a firm, melodic sense that harks back to the classic writing of artists like Paul Simon, Billy Joel, and Stevie Wonder, and his distinctive tenor gives his compositions plenty of nuance and room to breathe. Davis played all the instruments except the drums on his debut full-length CD, Let the Woman, which was compiled from his earlier EP Fine China and his LP Thinks of Her with a few previously unreleased...
