This City Won
With his new album, Anthony Walker perfects his signature folk rock sound (with just a twinge of country) in the same vein as Wilco, but with a much more personal and heartfelt touch. The album features excellent guitar playing along with bass, drums, organ, piano, strings, and a variety of percussion instruments. The energy behind songs like Call Me Custer and Sundowners is contrasted very well with the anguish of Darlene, the sweet, hushed sound of In the Night, and the relaxing and serene Oh, My Sierra. From start to finish Walker pulls you in on sheer talent alone, charms you with personality, and above all leaves you wanting more...
Great Album
If you like the sounds of Bob Dylan, Gram Parsons, and Wilco you will dig Anthony Walker. This roots rock album is a great, easy listen. Anthony Walker's raw sound is addictive and its very apparent that his lyrics and both truthful and meaningful. One of my favorie tunes on the album is the piano ballad "Darlene". Great album. Must buy!
