Soulful & Solid

I've always liked Kip Fox because of his great voice and style. Now with the addition of him sharing with us what drives him spiritually, it takes his music to a new level. Great stuff!

This Dust is the real deal

Kip Fox's musical and lyrical skills are truly on display here. God is definitely working through this powerful worship CD. WELL DONE KIP

Singable and Fresh

"This Dust" hasn't been collecting much dust since I opened it and placed in my player (yeah I'm a little old school I like to hold my music before listening sometimes).

As a friend of Kip's I'm supposed to love his music, but I have bought many friend's projects to show my support which simply sit on the shelf. This isn't that.

Every track is great, but The Church needs to hear and sing "Thieves on a Cross." It's fresh, it's easy to sing in that Tomlin-kind-of-way, but this says something that most easy to sing congregational tunes can't or don't. Many songs that we are singing today only work in the context of the arena in which they are recorded, but great songs transcend that sort of thing. That's what this is. Sing this in your mega church with the moving light rig or around the fire at the campout.

I remember way back in the day hearing "Awesome God" (Rich Mullins) at conferences and in churches years before it was ever recorded. The same was true of "You are Holy" (Marc Imboden, recorded by MWS). Both of these tunes were huge songs, sung millions of times in thousands of churches.

I predict a similar path for "Thieves" and "This Dust" from this record.

Am I overstating? Well...probably. But this is what we do when we experience something that we believe is so great and so different - we have to tell our friends.

When Kip writes "Death is all around us, we are not afraid, written is the story, empty is the grave." I think two things: a.) Dangit why didn't I write that? and b.) I don't think I've heard that before. Ok I think of three things...c) I think of a nephew whose life was cut short, the faithful aunt languishing in pain and on death's long bed - of the martyrs and the saints and the...you get the idea.

This is good stuff.

My old CD player will be set on "repeat" for a while.
